SAN DIEGO –Today, Mayor Todd Gloria and Councilmember Vivian Moreno (District 8), along with community members and City staff, officially kicked off the construction of Riviera Del Sol Neighborhood Park, located in the Otay Mesa community of Council District 8.
“Four years ago when I was running for office, I made a promise that I would fight for parks, streets, and our fair share of city resources,” said Councilmember Vivian Moreno. “Today is a great day for the Otay Mesa community as a promise that was made to residents over twenty years ago is now a reality — the construction of Riviera Del Sol Neighborhood Park.”
The new $9.5 million, approximately 4.8-acre park will feature a basketball court, open lawn areas, two playgrounds, fitness equipment, picnic shelters, a prefabricated restroom facility, security lighting, benches, a park monument sign, new landscaping, on-street parking designated for persons with disabilities and a crosswalk on Riviera Shores Street. Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2023.
“I want to thank the community for their tremendous support, and I will continue to fight for funding for more parks in District 8,” concluded Councilmember Moreno.
