SAN DIEGO – Tomorrow, the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) Joint Meeting of the Borders Committee and the Committee on Binational Regional Opportunities will hear an overview and key findings of the California–Baja California 2021 Border Master Plan (BMP).
The BMP is a comprehensive, binational approach to coordinate planning and delivery of land ports of entry (POE) and transportation infrastructure projects serving those POE’s in the California-Baja California border region. The U.S.–Mexico Joint Working Committee, led by the U.S. Federal Highway Administration and Mexico’s Secretariat of Communications and Transportation, provided leadership for the effort.
Caltrans developed the 2021 BMP in partnership with the State of Baja California Secretariat of Infrastructure, Urban Development, and Territorial Reorganization. The planning process involves nearly 40 agencies from the United States and Mexico at the federal, state, regional, and local levels. The study officially kicked off in January 2020 and was completed in February 2021. More info on the BMP can be found here.
