SAN DIEGO – Tomorrow, the City of San Diego’s Audit Committee will hear a discussion item on the City’s Fiscal Year 2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This report is prepared annually by the Department of Finance and includes the financial statements of all funds of the City and disclosures that complement the financial statements, statistical information, management’s discussion and analysis and other supplementary information.
The Audit Committee oversees the City’s auditing, internal controls and financial or business practices as well as directing and reviewing the work of the City Auditor. It was formed in the wake of the City’s pension scandal and financial crisis to ensure that there is an additional check to make sure that the City is doing business transparently. Councilmember Vivian Moreno will be convening her first meeting as Chair of the committee.
