(Print Press Release)

SAN DIEGO- Today, the City Council heard an informational item by the City’s Purchasing and Contracting Department regarding the results of the 2020 Disparity Study with the purpose of identifying whether any gaps exist in the City’s contracting with traditionally underrepresented groups and includes items for consideration to remedy any identified gaps. Councilmember Vivian Moreno has issued the following statement:

“The results of this disparity study are not surprising. The unfiltered reality for women and minority owned businesses in San Diego is that they are not competing on an equal playing field when it comes to bidding on City contracts. The current contracting conditions that create barriers are unacceptable and the City must move expeditiously to bring forward reforms that will address these problems.”
