SUBJECT: Nomination of Ms. Maria (Pita) Verdin to the Park and Recreation Board (Print Memo)
I am pleased to nominate Ms. Maria (Pita) Verdin to the City of San Diego’s Park and Recreation Board.
Ms. Verdin is an active Sherman Heights resident and volunteer, responsible for the Sherman Heights community website and informs her neighbors regularly on City issues impacting their area. She is also a member of the City’s Homeless Storage Neighborhood Advisory Committee and Compassionate Solutions Community Group. She previously served as a Board Member of the Sherman Heights Community Center.
Ms. Verdin is a Project Manager at Trimble, Inc., a global technology company and has previously worked as a Data Management Specialist and Publications Specialist. Ms.Verdin served on the City’s Park & Recreation Selection Panel for the new Director in 2019. She was previously nominated by former Mayor Kevin Faulconer to serve on the Park and Recreation Board but due to the COVID pandemic, her nomination was never confirmed by the City Council.
I am confident Ms. Verdin will be a strong asset to the Park and Recreation Board.
