SAN DIEGO –Today, the San Diego City Council approved Council Committee appointments and outside organizations for 2022. Councilmember Vivian Moreno (District 8) will serve on the following committees:
- Chair, Committee on Land Use and Housing
- Vice Chair, Audit Committee
- Vice Chair, Public Safety and Livable Neighborhoods Committee
- Member, Budget and Government Efficiency Committee
“It is a privilege to be appointed chair of the Land Use and Housing Committee,” said Councilmember Moreno. “Stable housing choices are out of reach for many people in our city and units available for low-income families is still too low. Middle class income earners find themselves unable to buy a home and increasingly unable to afford rent. It is our responsibility here at the City to ensure we do all we can to allow our residents to have access to housing that fits their family needs and to have the ability to access housing opportunities in all neighborhoods in the city. I welcome the opportunity to work with my colleagues and members of the public on addressing our housing affordability problems here in San Diego in the coming year.”
Outside organizations that Councilmember Moreno will serve on include San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, SANDAG Board of Directors (first alternate to Council President), SANDAG Executive Committee (first alternate), SANDAG Bayshore Bikeway Working Group, SANDAG Borders Committee, Otay Valley Regional Park Policy Committee, Otay Mesa Enhanced Infrastructure Financing District Public Financing Authority (Chair), and San Diego Consortium Policy Board.
